STILES: NDP will force a vote on Ford’s callous OSAP cuts

QUEEN’S PARK — Official Opposition Leader Marit Stiles and the Ontario NDP will force a vote to reverse Doug Ford’s damaging Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) cuts when the Ontario Legislature returns, calling on the Premier to save a generation of students from crushing debt:

“Doug Ford’s OSAP cuts come at a time when life has never been more unaffordable,” said Stiles. “The Premier has already saddled Ontario’s next generation with record-high cost of living and destroyed their job market. They can’t afford decades of student debt on top of that.

“On the first day back, we will give Doug Ford and his government a chance to do the right thing; reverse the cuts to OSAP, so students aren’t stuck with a lifetime debt sentence.

“The future of our province is tied to the success of the next generation. With one fell swoop, the Premier has decided to pull the rug from under students and families.

“He is failing our next generation. We will give this government the opportunity to stand up for our province's students, so they can get ahead. We will use every tool in our toolbox to fight back against these cuts and stand up for Ontario’s future.”
