Stiles’ NDP will fight rising costs for Windsor families

WINDSOR – Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles spoke to workers, families, and supporters in Windsor about choosing a better Ontario this election. She was joined by candidates from the NDP’s strong Windsor-Essex team: Lisa Gretzky (Windsor West), Gemma Grey-Hall (Windsor-Tecumseh) and Rachael Mills (Essex).

“In this election, in Windsor-Essex, your vote has real power. The power to elect strong New Democrat MPPs who will fight for people and reverse seven years of Doug Ford’s neglect. The power to fight rising costs, hire doctors, protect jobs, and fix schools.

As Premier, with my strong Windsor team, I will help families get ahead and stand strong with industry and labour to defend every job.

Doug Ford’s record is clear: 47,000 people in Windsor without a family doctor; rent is higher than ever; and your groceries and bills for the basics are more expensive than ever. Your vote for the NDP can change that.”

The Ontario NDP’s platform will help fight rising costs in Windsor-Essex, it includes:

  • Monthly Grocery Rebate that is based on how much the cost of essential groceries like milk, bread and vegetables have increased under Ford.
  • Bringing in real rent control that closes loopholes and helps people stay in their homes.
  • Funding Transit Windsor with 50% of operating costs, to make it more reliable, convenient and affordable. And uploading the EC Row Expressway to the province.
  • Hiring more family doctors: Over 47,000 people lack a family doctor in Windsor-Essex.
  • Expediting the Windsor-Essex Regional Hospital so that people can get the healthcare they need.
  • Fixing Windsor-Essex schools. $405 million repair backlog across all four school boards.
  • Work with the auto industry and labour unions, to defend every job while building a more tariff-proof economy.

After Windsor, Stiles heads to campaign stops in Sarnia and London.
