GRETZKY: Windsor won’t stand for companies abandoning our workers

WINDSOR — MPP Lisa Gretzky (Windsor West) joined the picket line today in solidarity with the locked out members of UNIFOR Local 195 at Titan Tool and Die Limited — workers who have been unjustly locked out by their employer after the company laid off staff and shipped equipment to the United States.

“These workers are fighting for their livelihoods and they’re showing real courage,” said Gretzky. “Instead of standing with them, Titan Tool and Die has been stripping the Windsor plant of equipment and jobs, and has locked out the very people who built the company with their labour and commitment. This is a disgrace.”

“Just two days ago, Premier Doug Ford and Labour Minister David Piccini came to Windsor and deliberately ignored these locked out workers. Donald Trump has unleashed chaos on Ontario’s workers, but Doug Ford and his ministers are failing to show up and fight for good jobs. Their lack of interest or support is downright disrespectful to Windsor workers and residents.”

“The Ontario NDP stands firmly with Unifor Local 195 members and their fight for fairness. Windsor’s workers aren’t asking for a miracle. They are simply asking for a government that shows up and truly fights for their them.”
